In his role as sales manager, Ingmar Bell became familiar with PricoPlex products. The trays from the Bavarian manufacturer are also offered through REWE's headquarters. All Hundertmark supermarkets have a fresh food counter. "The fresh food counters are a major draw," Bell emphasizes. From observing the industry, he knows that customers react with irritation if they don't find a fresh food counter in a store.
“More and more people are shopping very consciously and want to avoid, for example, large amounts of packaging, which isn’t possible with self-service products in the refrigerated section,” he adds. Furthermore, the self-service range can’t offer the same level of individualized products as the fresh food counters, where customers also receive professional advice from the staff.

The task for the new fresh food counters
Although meat and sausage consumption is declining nationwide, the fresh meat counters in Hundertmark markets remain very popular. Ingmar Bell's aim when adapting the counters and their equipment was therefore to maintain the appeal of the fresh meat selection while simultaneously adapting it to consumer trends. While pork sales are declining, demand for other types of meat – especially high-quality, regionally sourced meat – remains consistently high.
“By choosing PricoPlex, we purchased a complete concept ,” explains Bell. This includes, among other things, the clear color coding. For example, Eifel pork now comes in yellow trays, poultry is offered in red trays, and beef in black trays.
This color-coded system is very helpful for customers , as it allows them to quickly find their favorite products. Furthermore, popular regional goods can be showcased more effectively at the counter through color accents. The new clarity is also beneficial for employees who are new to the job and serving customers at the deli counter. The color scheme provides them with orientation and an overview of the various products on offer right from the start .

When planning the new counter fittings, Sales Manager Ingmar Bell relied on the expertise of PricoPlex. Sales representative Klaus Wydra accompanied the entire process from the beginning. "Thanks to the intensive communication, I was able to vividly imagine the different counter tray options," Bell explains. When it came time to stock the counter, the PricoPlex sales representative continued to oversee the process: He checked the merchandise on-site for completeness and optimally adjusted the arrangement of the trays within the counter.
