“To be THE regional supplier.” That’s the stated goal of the Prechtl supermarket chain, emphasizes authorized signatory Jochen Aumüller. He is responsible for the four stores in Bad Aibling, Bad Feilnbach, Brannenburg, and Raubling. Customer service and a positive shopping experience are central to him and his team: EDEKA employees cater to customer needs, especially at the fresh food counter. “We will always have a service counter. It’s what we’ve been doing best for 125 years; it’s in our DNA,” Aumüller enthuses. It’s no wonder he relies on PricoPlex, the tray manufacturer from Eresing. They, too, have made optimizing counter equipment a priority.

26 m of service counter newly equipped for a special shopping experience
The Prechtl Group's flagship store is the market in Bad Aibling. Nearly 3,000 square meters of sales floor and a 26-meter-long service counter invite customers to shop. Last year, Aumüller undertook a major project there: "We completely renovated the store while remaining open for business." As part of the renovation, the counter was also renewed and completely re-equipped. A team of 50 employees staffs the counter, which offers everything from meat and sausage to cheese, delicatessen items, and fish – everything a customer could desire.
The deli counter is a real eye-catcher. It's not linear, but rather features several waves. "A curved counter has angles and curves, so I need the right angled bowls," explains Aumüller, adding: "The investment costs for the counter are enormous, and we can't afford to waste any space."

“We sent our customer service contact the counter plan in 2D. He then planned the bowls to fit perfectly. Thanks to the PricoPlex software, we were able to plan the counter layout even before it was built. When it was actually stocked, the PricoPlex employee had all the suitable products and alternatives with him. This comprehensive service makes the collaboration very pleasant for us.”

Whether meat or fish – PricoPlex has the presentation solution. It emphasizes the quality of the specialties and suggests exquisite luxury.
“Durable and robust” – the PricoPlex promise holds true
Constantly in use and exposed to consistently high dishwasher temperatures, the deli counter trays at EDEKA Prechtl supermarkets have to withstand a lot. That's why Aumüller has relied on the PricoPlex quality promise of "durable and robust" for 15 years. For its managing director, Christian Priebe, the sustainability of his products is a top priority. "For me, sustainability means something that lasts a long time," says Priebe. This longevity is achieved through the use of highly robust composite materials. Melamine is not used at all in tray production. Firstly, it is not shatterproof, and secondly, it is not recyclable.
A layer of plexiglass seals the surface of the tray. The plexiglass is also colored throughout with the same pigment as the base material. "Scratches that inevitably occur during daily use are therefore not noticeable. These components make PricoPlex products durable and resistant to wear and tear," explains Priebe.
Different fill levels in deli salads are balanced using reduction inserts.

The modular shell system simplifies purchasing and operation
It wasn't just the highly robust plastic of the trays that made the Prechtl supermarket group a long-standing PricoPlex customer. The tray system offers extensive customization options – in its shapes, colors, sizes, and finishes. At Prechtl, the different colors are used to distinguish the various product categories. The deli counter teams place poultry in yellow trays. Fish, on the other hand, is presented in blue trays and on blue trays. Black is reserved for meat, and green represents organic products. "The color coding simplifies the separation of the different product groups. This provides orientation not only for customers but also for our employees, which in turn helps in complying with HACCP guidelines," explains authorized signatory Aumüller. Thus, the PricoPlex trays also support food hygiene standards.
EDEKA Prechtl is catering to the trend
Food preferences are changing. For example, the consumption of certain foods has been declining for the past few years. Sales of pork and sausage, for instance, are down. "However, all types of beef are in high demand. Delicatessen salads and fish are also popular with our customers," explains Aumüller. He knows that he has to keep up with the times with his service counters, as this is also part of a good shopping experience. This is another reason for the long-term partnership with the tray manufacturer from Eresing.
