With 32 branches and over 300 employees, the Hausner family butcher shop in Weiden is known to its customers as a reliable supplier of meat and sausage products. At Hausner, everything is freshly cut and packaged. Owner Alexander Hausner leaves self-service to other businesses, focusing instead on customer service and the high-quality presentation of his goods. That's why he uses PricoPlex trays in his display cases.

Hausner showcases its specialties on our wood decor panels and the oval bowls of the CUT series.

“We coordinate beforehand. The PricoPlex sales representative brings the appropriate product range and integrates it into the counter. The whole process is very straightforward. Once the order is placed, we don't have to worry about anything else.”

Family tradition since 1898

The Hausner family butcher shop has been a fixture in Weiden Currently, it's run by the fourth generation, Alexander Hausner and his cousin Carolin Hausner. And the next generation is already working in the business. Continuity is clearly a top priority for the Hausners. But the family of butchers also knows that ultimately, only those who constantly adapt can survive. "Our 32 branches are located within a 100-kilometer radius of Weiden." With this many stores, there's always a need for change. They have to stay current and offer customers a great shopping experience at their butcher shop. "That's why we renovate our branches from time to time, improving the atmosphere," explains Alexander Hausner. When a renovation is planned, the counter is also replaced. The master butcher took this opportunity to upgrade his product displays to high-quality PricoPlex trays.

PricoPlex's sales representatives deliver the trays and stock the counter

Hausner Butcher Shop and PricoPlex have been working together for several years. Alexander Hausner sees the major advantage in the expertise and service offered by the counter manufacturer's sales representatives. The smooth process of equipping a counter is due to the manufacturer's decades of experience, which have made it the market leader in Germany. "When a customer makes an inquiry, every sales representative knows exactly what to do: We first ask for information about the counter and the customer's product range, and inquire about their specialties. We are, of course, very familiar with the individual counter manufacturers and know which product range fits into which model," reports PricoPlex Managing Director Christian Priebe.

Application examples from everyday work

The poultry pieces are neatly separated from the other meat by glass panes. The white trays make the poultry easily identifiable for customers.

Whether it's white sausage, Lyoner or Vienna sausage: Hausner relies on our NEO series here.

Hausner demonstrates how the NEO and CUT series can be combined in its seasonal goods.

Whether it's cold cuts, soft cheese or cheese salad: there's something for everyone here.

The shell system is very flexible

Another advantage is the extreme flexibility of the PricoPlex tray system. "It fits into any counter depth. This high quality pays off for many years. I have something of value and can use it longer than trays that are cheaper to buy. We also get good feedback from our branch teams regarding handling," reports Hausner.

Impact-resistant plastic makes the bowls particularly durable

Priebe explains the robustness of his trays as follows: “Our plastic is shatterproof, which distinguishes it from other plastics. We use ABS – this base material is comparable to that used in car bumpers – and wafer-thin Plexiglas, which gives the tray a sealed surface. Furthermore, the top layer, the Plexiglas, is colored throughout with the same dye as the base material. Scratches, which inevitably occur during daily use, are therefore not noticeable. These components make our trays durable and resistant to wear and tear.” Melamine is not used at all for tray production. Firstly, it is not shatterproof, and secondly, it releases substances that are hazardous to health when exposed to heat.

Not all Hausner branches have the same floor plan. The butcher shop has to adapt to the specific conditions of each location. "That's why our counters are different lengths," explains the owner. At some locations, sales might not grow as quickly as desired, and then a long counter with many meters of display space presents a problem. PricoPlex has the solution for this challenge as well: The butcher shop ordered trays with relatively wide rims, which consequently take up more space. This makes the counter appear well-stocked, even though less product is on display.

appear even more festive.

The butcher's offerings can also vary seasonally

The PricoPlex tray system also easily accommodates the varying requirements of seasonal products. "We use the same trays in both summer and winter," Hausner emphasizes. In the warmer months, they can remove sausages from the display case in favor of grilled meats, thus utilizing the available space. For example, the PricoPlex grill skewers, which are clearly visible in the trays, are particularly appealing in the summer.

The butcher is taking over the fresh food counter of the supermarket

With PricoPlex, the Hausner butcher shop is well-equipped for future product presentation. The family business is also open to new store concepts. "In a supermarket, we provide the entire 18-meter-long fresh food counter. Customers can then pick up meat and sausages from the specialty shop as part of their weekly shopping," explains Hausner, explaining why this concept is attractive for him and the market: "For an independent market operator, running a fresh food counter is very time-consuming. They need expertise and staff for product presentation and sales. We provide both, so they don't have to worry about a thing."

Otherwise, the butcher shop often offers its products in the pre-checkout area of supermarkets. Whether in its own shop, at the pre-checkout, or with an integrated fresh meat counter in the store, Alexander Hausner is convinced that specialty sales of meat and sausage products have a future – because quality remains very important to many customers. Hausner shares this commitment to quality, which is why he opted for the PricoPlex tray system
